"See you later - at the Krone!" – For as long as I can imagine Hotel Krone has alaways been the meeting point number one in Bretten. For a snack after a shopping tour, a get-together with friends, for baptisms, birthdays, weddings: The "Krone" used to be a restaurant serving local food with a guesthouse and it was the number one for social gathering. Even the final dinner at the end of the Bretten Christmas market where my father sold sausages, took place at the "Krone" every year. My favorite dish there as a young girl used to be Schnitzel in a creamy sauce with Spatzle - I can still taste it even now!
But then, Hotel Krone started to detereorate little by little - such an impressive half-timbered house on the historic market square in Bretten - unbelievable! When the hotel was for sale in 1999, my parents didn't hesitate at all ... Back then, they used to run a guesthouse with their own butcher shop in the third generation in a neighbooring village. The passion for hotel and catering business is in our family ... Other members of my family work in the hospitality sector, as well. In 1999, I was just a trainee at a different hotel.
500 Years Hotel Krone in Bretten & a Young Hotel Manager ...
I was a trainee at "Hotel Residenz" in Karlsruhe. In retrospect, I am quite thankful for such a hard training. Thanks, Mrs. Bauer: You taught me a lot and I have kept many, many happy memories from then. I am also very glad to welcome our chef de cuisine back then with his wife at our breakfast events at Hotel Krone from time to time.
In 1999, when I was just in my early twenties, I became hotel manager of Hotel Krone, along with my mother. Quite young, I know. But one grows with the challenges ...In 2012 my parents started to retire little by little and I eventually took over - with the active support of my husband. It was an enormous challenge for us to take charge of Hotel Krone. But it's been worth every minute. We are well aware of running the most traditional hotel in Bretten, in the middle of the Old Town and on the market square where even Emperor Charles V stayed overnight! We have had the chance to give the hotel our personal touch and to lead it into the future ...
Together into the Future! A Modern Feel-Good Factor behind Ancient Walls
Hotel Krone's breakfast hall shines in new splendor within a modern ambience. Many of our rooms have already been modernized and shine in a new designer look with open structures and trendy bathroom styles. We have used material of high-quality only like solid wood, natural furniture from Austria and beds with a sleeping-system comfort by the Schramm company. We are currently in the process of modernizing the remaining rooms & bathrooms. We have also created a new feel-good lounge in our "Krone"-hall and enlarged our spa area.
Our wooden ceiling is a "family product": My husband and uncle Tom along with our friend Marco fell the trees and cut the wood into small pieces of jewels! Even my parents are still engaged in the hotel: They give us a hand whenever necessary ... for instance, taking care of the next "Krone"-generation - our two young kids Toni Luis and Lina Marie...
What Would Hotel Krone Be Without Our Great Team?
High compliments to our team! We are very proud of all our employees - no matter whether they work at the front desk, in housekeeping, at the bar, at events or in our kitchen. Without them, Hotel Krone wouldn't be the same! Thanks to them our guests feel welcomed and special during their stay with us. We invest a lot in the further training of our employees. However, no training could replace the love and passion our team shows when performing their work ... Yet, the feedback of our guests is still necessary to get even better ...
